The Philip Larkin Society
Founded in 1995 on the 10th anniversary of the poet's death, the Society received charitable status in 2000. It publishes a biannual journal, About Larkin, and has organised several international conferences on Larkin, held at the University of Hull.
University of Hull
Founded in 1927, University College Hull was first opened in October 1928. In 1954 a Royal Charter was granted and the University of Hull became a separate institution with the right to award its own degrees. Philip Larkin became the University's Librarian in 1955, and remained until his death in 1985.
Hull City Council
Hull has a rich cultural and literary heritage. Through the Larkin25 programme, Hull City Council hopes to raise the cultural profile of the city nationally and internationally, as well as encouraging greater engagement with the arts and increased participation in cultural activities amongst local people.
Visit Hull and East Yorkshire
VHEY is the Yorkshire sub-region's destination management organisation. Formed from a partnership between Yorkshire Forward, East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Hull City Council, it is responsible for generating increased tourism activity in Hull & East Yorkshire through a range of innovative marketing activities and tourism business support.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council
East Riding of Yorkshire Council are working closely with Larkin25 to ensure that the broader arts and cultural opportunities generated by the programme are available across the East Riding. Partnerships with Beverley Folk Festival, Bridlington Poetry Festival and the Beverley Literature Festival, as well as with the libraries and education services, will generate exciting performances, projects and activities for all to enjoy.
